AACL will operate during lockdown

They will be adhering to strict hygiene and precautionary measures.

While South Africa goes into lockdown at midnight on March 26, Animal Welfare and Veterinary Service is included in national essential services.

South African Veterinary Council will be offering emergency veterinary service only from March 27 and will continue to do so during lockdown.

They will be adhering to strict hygiene and precautionary measures related to dealing with the virus to their staff, clients and ultimately the animals.

Animal emergency services will include:

• Dogs or cats with fractures or that was injured as result of motor vehicle accident.

• Dogs or cats that have been mauled or bitten.

• Poisoning or active seizures.

• Dystocia – battling with birth.

• Prolapse of the eyes, vagina or rectum.

• Dogs or cats that are unable to urinate.

• Eating disorders – dogs or cats that have not eaten for two days with symptoms of anaemia, fever, vomiting, diarrhea.

• Critically ill puppies.

• Foreign bodies.

• Vaccinations.

• Sterilisation.

• Skin conditions.

• Dentals.
