Robbers are on the prowl

I just want to warn neighbours to be extra vigilant when leaving their houses. Always make sure the gates are locked all the time and report any suspicious people or vehicles.

There was a house break-in on Meadows Street, South Hills on March 19 around 11am.

Two guys entered the premises through the gate and broke the front door open to gain entrance to the house.

There were two children, aged 12 and 15, and their mother in bed.

They heard some funny sound, but before they could investigate two men were already in the house.

The men went to the bedroom and threatened them, covered them with blankets and told them not shout or move otherwise they will kill them.

They took their cellphones and proceeded to ransack the bedrooms looking for any valuables.

They then went to the living room, took a 55-inch flat screen TV, sound system complete with amplifier, then another complete sound system and a laptop.

Neighbours saw a sky blue Hyundai sedan parked outside, with the third guy loading the goods, but the neigbours didn’t think much of so they didn’t take any registration.

The mother and children were held hostage for close to 20 minutes.

Police were called to the scene and investigations are still ongoing.

A case of house break-in has been opened at Moffat View Police Station.
