Balls an’ All still running after fire

Last year, on November 23, the Walkerville-based organisation clinic was struck by lightning, an event that resulted in the clinic being burnt down.

Balls an’ All animal, a non-profit organisation, is an animal rescue entity founded by Mareli MacFarlane and Ron Horton in 2016.

The duo joined forces to operate an organisation whose aim is to assist the less privileged communities to provide sterilisation and veterinary care services.

The organisation has made a good name for itself and has lived to its promises, help the communities. For that they have gained the trust of the public.

Clinic set alight

Last year, on November 23, the Walkerville-based organisation clinic was struck by lightning, an event that resulted in the clinic being burnt down.

The organisation has temporarily close as the duo needed to time re-establish themselves.

Mareli and Ron lost all their working equipment and other necessities. They have since turned to the community for help.

People donated clothing and food towards the organisation.

What now?

Ron told the COURIER he still doesn’t believe they lost their beloved clinic, and that it feels like a dream.

“The clinic was everything to us and we never thought we would lose it. But, we had to soldier on,” said Ron.

Mareli said they are presently negotiation with a company to get them up and running again.

“We are currently working from Walkerville Showgrounds. It is difficult because we now work under the trees. It’s unreal, but we getting there and haven’t stopped functioning,” said Mareli.

Donations

The duo said at the moment they need funding.

“We need to buy medication, and we still need to pay for sterilisation. The demand for our services has increased. Also, not having our own premises is having a negative effect as well,” said Mareli.
