Man arrested for exceeding a speed limit in Alrode

Thirty other drivers received fines ranging between R400 to R1 000.

A risk-taker clocking more than 150 km/h on a 60km/h stretch of road was arrested on February 6.

EMPD Speed Enforcement Unit monitored the Old Vereeniging Road between 12 noon and 9pm in the Phola Park area, between Kliprivier Road and K146/M7 bridge (next to Thina Sonke) where the arrest took place.

A 39-year-old man, who was driving with a passenger in a charcoal BMW 3 series, reserved his reasons for exceeding the speed limit. He was caught and arrested for registering 156 instead of 60km/h.

He was escorted and detained at the Brackendowns SAPS.

Charges of reckless and negligent driving were levelled against him.

The arrested lawbreaker will be appearing soon, in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court.
