WATCH: Beware of new criminal trend

Crime is on the rise.

CPS Security wants to warn residents against a new criminal trend and they ask residents to be more vigilant as crime is on the rise.

An armed robbery occurred in Homeria Street in Meyersdal on Janaury 21.

“As per the video footage, suspects are placing tape over your IR sensors for your gate.

“Once your gate has opened it will stay open, making it easy for criminals to access,” said Tyrone van der Merwe, sales director at CPS Security.

Be on the lookout for the vehicle that was involved in an armed robbery in Meyersdal.

Four armed men wearing dust masks and municipality overalls broke into a home in the estate while the owners were there.

They got away with laptops and cellphones and left the family unharmed but in shock.

CPS Security is still on the lookout for the suspects who drove a blue Volkswagen with registration number CF19GTGP.

They are also on the lookout for a white Chevrolet Utility bakkie which has damage to the back left fender.

The three suspects travelling in this bakkie robbed a house in Vuurpyl Street in Verwoerdpark on January 24.

Officers from CPS Security also reacted to an armed robbery in Phillips Street in Verwoerdpark on January 21 where five robbers tied up a family and fled with electronics and jewellery.
