Sponsor a pensioner for Christmas
The lunch will take place on December 17, so all the money and names must be in before December 10.
CHRISTMAS is a very special time of year for families and for exchanging gifts with loved ones. Although for some, it’s not so sweet.
“We have plenty of our senior citizens who have no family, who are widowed, all alone or living on a Sassa grant with very little to get them by during the festive season,” said Ward 23 councillor Sarah Wissler. “This year, we are wanting to give those a very special Christmas. Turn ‘n Tender is discounting a three-course lunch for us to celebrate Christmas for those very special seniors.
“What I would like from you, as residents, is to please let us know of those pensioners in Glenvista, Bassonia, Glenanda, Mulbarton, Liefde en Vrede, Mayfield Park, Rispark, Patlynn and Kibler Island who you know are battling, or who have lost their life partner and are lonely with no family.

“Myself and Anthea Sam will go through the list as we have a limited space of 40 couples only.
“We would also like to give each couple a small gift of basic household goods to help them along over the festive season. If you are able to help, please sponsor a pensioner at R150 per person, or more if you can spare it.
“They will get a three-course meal with cold drink and tea/coffee and also a hamper. The lunch will take place on December 17, so all the money and names must be in before December 10.

Tickets will also be on sale at Turn ‘n Tender Bassonia Shopping Centre as of next week.
