JMPD conducts a road safety campaign ahead of the festive season

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) conducted an awareness campaign on road safety to motorists whom it engaged with in Southgate on November 23.

Motorists, pedestrians and children were given brochures with information on the risks of drinking and driving. People were also given breathalysers to test themselves to avoid driving drunk.

Most of the motorists showed appreciation to the JMPD officials and some asked questions pertaining to road safety.

The JMPD displayed all their modes of transport ranging from bicycles, buses, vans and horses.

One of the motorists, Siboniso Msomi, said to avoid having fatal accidents on the roads in this coming festive season, people need such campaigns.

“It pleases me to see people happy to witness such campaigns and interacting with JMPD officials. It is amazing,” said Msomi
