JSPCA celebrates its 116 birthday

THE Johannesburg Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) turned 116 and celebrated the day in style with cats and dogs getting pampered.

The bath and brush station was packed with handy volunteers who bathed, brushed and even played with the dogs.

Even animals which are in the kennels got a chance to get brushed and touched by people who were present on the day.

K9 Impact Dog Training also showcased some of the wonderful work they do with animals.

Volunteers and customers were given a chance to touch the K9’s while being monitored by a professional dog trainer.

Liana Marx, JSPCA public relations officer said, “It was wonderful to see old friends and their pets who have continued to show their support for the JSPCA even after they have adopted. One or two people even applied to adopt again as they fell in love with some of our dogs up for adoption.

“A big thank you to Colleen Moore from Lovely Crumbs who donated a beautiful and very tasty birthday cake to the JSPCA. Also a huge thanks to Meat World Comaro Crossing for donating towards our birthday celebrations.

“This was truly an eventful day enjoyed by everyone and we would not have been able to pull this off without the wonderful support from the public,” said Liana.

Food stalls were available on the day.
