An art festival of note hosted by Abbotts College

Their second annual Art Festival was hosted on August 24 complete with food trucks, food vendors, coffee vendors, a jumping castle, live music, and live productions.

THIS year Abbotts College Johannesburg South went all out with their Art Festival.

Their second annual Art Festival was hosted on August 24 complete with food trucks, food vendors, coffee vendors, a jumping castle, live music, and live productions.

The Southies Art Festival hosted Grade Seven learners from neighboring primary schools to participate in workshops for art and drama and, if chosen, perform or exhibit their work on the final day of the festival.

Big prizes were up for grabs, including a R20 000 bursary to attend Abbotts in 2020.

After a Saturday of food, coffee and fun, the Southie learners entertained the crowd by singing songs while the Grade 12 Afrikaans learners performed a piece from Fiela se Kind and the Grade 10 Zulu learners performed traditional songs to celebrate woman.

It was then time to announce the winners for both art and drama.

Because of the tight competition, there were two winners for art.

Colin Northmore (principal) and Amore Pretorius (creative arts, Afrikaans FAL teacher for Grade Eight) congratulated the Grade Seven winners and thanked all the staff, parents, external judges and leadership who made the day possible.

A big thank you was given to Wagyu Bros, Mells Menu, AfricaBlack Coffee and Vega for serving amazing food and beverages at the festival.
