THE main water pipe that feeds parts of Glenvista Ext 4 and Mulbarton has to be replaced. The pipe is between Norwich Drive and Bellairs Drive, Glenvista.
A portion of the pipe was replaced earlier this year due to the constant bursts on that section. However, on Monday, September 16, five bursts happened on the remaining section in less than 24 hours, which brought about the emergency replacement of that section. The pipe was due for replacement but not right now as there is a replacement pipeline upgrade happening in Glenvista ext 4.
Joburg water will have an emergency meeting on site with the contractor on Monday, September 23 and they will get the work underway by Wednesday. There will be water disruptions when the job commences while they replace the pipe. Should it take longer than a day to replace, water tanks will be provided.
