Aspiring hairstylists given a platform to shine

SA College of Beauty, Hair and Health gave its students an opportunity to show off their talent during a hairstyling competition on September 4.

SA COLLEGE of Beauty, Hair and Health gave its students an opportunity to show off their talent during a hairstyling competition on September 4.

The competition, themed We went around the world, was hosted at Casa Da Madeira in Newmarket.

Hard-working and skilful students at the school were given a chance to participate in a competition, which saw them using amazing equipment for their artwork.

To warm things up, Studio 55 entertained attendees with stunning dance moves, while the audience also got a chance to receive gift prizes. The competition enabled participants to go overboard in their styles of preference.

Every participant was appreciated with a medal for their involvement, while the winners of the day got a trophy.

The competition featured judges from well-known hair salons, such as Hair Dimensions and Stage Line Makeup.

Organiser Lenandré Steyn, also a student at the college, said the competition featured numerous categories to accommodate more talent.

“We had three categories, which included bridal, advanced cutting and colouring and avant-garde.

“Our winners were Jessica Grobbelaar, Stefan Prinsloo, Chisaya Makoko, Christina Buksasa, Linda Links and myself. Among those who were also appreciated were Liza Pistolesi, Denise Fourie, Kirsty Stumke and Allison Johst.”

Participants got a chance to express their creativity.

“We want to give a special thank you to our sponsors, Curves, Isabella Allers, Nails BY Nicole, Printo Printers, DJ Road signs, Studio 55, Bigg Productions, Susan van der Laak and Casa Da Madeira,” she added.

She said the event was a fun experience for all their students, as they got to see different art pieces which were created on the day.
