Neglected empty stand in Bassonia now an eyesore

According to the resident, some of the trees were cut down a while ago, but have been left piled up on the empty stand.

AN empty stand on Steenbok Avenue, Bassonia, is an eyesore for residents, and according to one resident, who wanted to remain anonymous, it’s been left like this for years.

“I am aware it is home to a number of feral cats which are cared for and fed, but it’s getting out of hand and looks a real mess,” she said.

According to the resident, some of the trees were cut down a while ago, but have been left piled up on the empty stand.

Cut down trees have been left on the empty stand for months.

“Apart from looking terrible, the adjacent properties are at threat from criminal activity because the overgrown stand can give criminals protection from being seen, especially at night.

“We’ve also had an increase in rats and this problem needs to be addressed,” she added.

Ward 23 councillor Sarah Wissler has been asked for comment.

Trees cut back have just been left on the empty stand.
