On Wednesday, September 4, at about 10:15 Johannesburg Flying Squad, EMPD, National Tracking Team, and JMPD Police Officers conducted a joint operation and arrested 12 suspects and recovered six unlicensed firearms and three vehicles.
It is alleged that the police officers received a tip-off from the National Crime Intelligence Group about suspects that are on their way to commit a Cash-in-transit (CIT) robbery.
The suspects’ vehicles were spotted driving on Kliprivier N12 West and the Police Officers immediately pounced on them. Upon searching the suspects and their vehicles, six unlicensed 9mm pistols were found.
Crime scene still active and all role players were contacted.
An update by Brigadier Vish Naidoo will follow as soon as it is available.
