Learn new skills at Adonai Centre for Development

Adonai Centre for Development is a non-profit company registered with CIPC and seeks to add value to the community by developing skills relevant to the job market.

ADONAI Centre for Development opened its doors to the community of the South on July 1.

This centre took over The Papillon Foundation and they are at the same premises in Rosettenville, corner of Mabel and Lily streets.

Nqaba Mntungwa is the chairperson of the committee driving the centre.

They are a group of seven directors with different skill sets, which they believe are necessary to steer the centre.

Papillon Foundation sold the premises to the La Rochelle Seventh Day Adventist Church in 2018.

The church then appointed them to drive the centre and restore it to adding value to the community.

Adonai Centre for Development is a non-profit company registered with CIPC and seeks to add value to the community by developing skills relevant to the job market.

They want to play an active role in developing the community by imparting skills and expertise that will deal with socio-economic challenges, like unemployment, poverty etc.

“We are finalising accreditation processes with International Computer Driver’s License (ICDL) as a training and test centre. We are also in contact with previous and new (potential) partners who can help us in giving more value as was before. Our first offerings are ICDL and English courses.

“We, however, are busy with applications with the Department of Higher Education and Training as a skills development provider. Our intention is to be able to offer SAQA accredited qualifications that are NQF aligned. We are in the process of registering.

“This will allow us to run learnerships as well. Learnerships are learning programmes that equip attendants with skills relevant to the job market. They are mostly SAQA accredited and are best suited for people who have not entered the job market and are searching for new skills, or people in the job market looking forward to learning a new skill that will advance them in their work,” explained Nqaba.

Landry Komba (The Papillon Foundation) is the ICDL trainer and Listen Mambo is the project manager (principal) at the centre. Sanele Sibanda is the English facilitator responsible for English for Communication and English for Computers.

Courses are from Monday to Thursday from 8am to 3pm. For more information contact them on 011 435 1269, WhatsApp on 073 052 3254, adonaicenter@telkomsa.net or adonai.centerfordevelopment@gmail.com
