WATCH: Naturena residents unite during fun walk/run

The event started at 9am at Naturena Car Wash Ext 26. About 350 people participated in the fun walk/run. The proposed distance was 4.7km.

NATURENA Neighborhood Watch hosted a fun walk/run with the aim of uniting the community on June 15.

The event started at 9am at Naturena Car Wash Ext 26. About 350 people participated in the fun walk/run. The proposed distance was 4.7km.

JMPD, SAPS, CPF and Ward 119 councillor Oupa Ngwenya attended the event. It was a vibrant atmosphere as participants shared conversations while running. The objective was to have neighbours learn more about each other and defuse crime in the area. The residents came up with ideas on how to defuse crime in the area.

Nhlanhla Madlala, Neighborhood Watch secretary, said he is pleased to see Naturena residents supporting such initiatives.

“Combating crime and developing our community is very important. If we don’t take care of this community no one will. The community should look after our area in order for children to live in a safe society,” said Madlala.

Residents were happy to participate in the fun walk/run on June 15.

Ishe Bushoke came first and Mothiba Shai second in the fun run. Afterwards, the attendees were spoiled with bananas, apples, and drinks. Ngwenya said the local government supports such initiatives which promote unity and create a social environment in the communities.
