Tips on how to secure adoption at JSPCA

The JSPCA encourages people who wish to adopt to come to the centre for a meet-and-greet with the animal they want.

JOHANNESBURG Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA) would like to advise members of the public about animal adoption processes.

First and foremost one needs to love dogs and cats.

Your available time to spend with the animals, available space, your expectations and affordability all play a role in the adoption process.

The JSPCA encourages people who wish to adopt to come to the centre for a meet-and-greet with the animal they want.

Once the correct pet has been chosen, JSPCA inspectors will make arrangements to come to your property to ensure that it is suitable for the type of animal you have chosen.

The inspector will also be able to answer any further questions you have pertaining to basic animal husbandry.

Your new companion is then sterilised, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped.

The Pet Accessory Store is a one-stop shop for all your pet requirements for your new animal.

Quality pet food, sturdy leashes and collars, toys for enhancing the quality of life, snug beds, litter trays, shampoo and so much more is for sale. What more could your animal ask for, besides love?

Adoption prices are R900 for dogs and R750 for cats.

Animal adoption centre operating hours are Mondays to Fridays from 8am to 4pm and Saturdays from 8am to 4pm. They’re closed on Sundays and public holidays.

You can visit the JSPCA Animal Adoption Centre to see all the dogs and cats that are looking for warm homes. The JSPCA staff will be on hand to assist you.
