GALLERY: CANSA Shavathon event at the Mall of the South

Several ponytails were shaved off and collected to be turned into wigs for people suffering from cancer.

MEMBERS of St Paul’s Church Cancer Support Group led a CANSA Shavathon event at the Mall of the South on March 2. People of all ages showed their support for a variety of different reasons. Some did it because they lost loved ones to cancer and this was their way of showing honour; some did it because they had friends who had been diagnosed with cancer; some did it simply for the novelty of having “rainbow hair”.

Several ponytails were shaved off and collected to be turned into wigs for people suffering from cancer. Other people, who were less willing to shave off their locks, had their hair spray-painted all sorts of different colours.

On behalf of the members of St Paul’s Church Cancer Support Group, Bruce Strachan would like to thank each person who was involved in this Shavathon, volunteered their time to help and supported the event in any way.

“Each little bit of support adds up to make a big, positive change,” he added. “See you at the next Shavathon.”
