Dagga-bust at Glenvista High School

Several baggies of dagga, paraphernalia and dagga muffins were found and confiscated. The learners who own them are being dealt with by authorities.

A SURPRISE drug raid was conducted by Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) and D&D Tactical, accompanied by councillor Sarah Wissler, at Glenvista High School on March 5.

Recently, a few parents have been complaining about children’s drug use at school.

Working hand in hand with the school principal and governing body, sniffer dogs were brought onto the school grounds in search of drugs. Learners’ bags were also searched.

Several baggies of dagga, paraphernalia and dagga muffins were found and confiscated. The learners who own them are being dealt with by authorities.

Wissler commented: “We know there is a syndicate at the school peddling the drugs and the main supplier is elsewhere. We will get to the root of it and deal with them.

“We will continue doing what needs to be done until drugs are no longer a problem at the school. We will now follow up with talks about the dangers of drugs and that crime does not pay.”

The CHRONICLE requested additional information from councillor Wissler and comment from Mondeor SAPS, but nothing was received by the deadline. Comment will be published as soon as it’s received.
