Lisa’s memory will live on

A MEMORIAL service was held by staff members of Group 1 Nissan and Renault The Glen on Wednesday afternoon, March 6, after they learned their friend and colleague, Lisa Ehlers, had died on March 3, after being burnt in a fire at her home.

Dealer principal George Stegman welcomed the staff, Lisa’s mom Nela Swanepoel, Lisa’s husband Marcus, Marcus’ mom Louise Ehlers and his sister Eloise Ehlers, conveying their heartfelt condolences to them.

“Lisa had been with us for close to a year and in that time had really made her mark here,” said George. “We are going to mourn her loss and I firmly believe she is looking down on us now. Personally, I’d like to thank Lisa for all she did for us, she did a superb job and we already and will in the future, miss her greatly.”

Nela, Lisa’s mom, said a few words. “I’m a very spiritual person and on Saturday when I visited her in hospital, I received a message from her. She told me, ‘I’m going to leave my body now, Mom.’ I am so relieved she didn’t have to suffer another day. Thank you all for being here. I hope I have given you some comfort.”

Eloise also said a few words, adding her thanks for them being there and for the love and support the family have received from them.

George asked each person to take a balloon and together they said their tearful goodbyes to Lisa as the balloons floated away.
