CONCERNS voiced by residents of Amanda Avenue, Glenanda North, about speeding motorists led to Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) manning a speed trap on Tuesday, February 19.
The speeding that takes place on Amanda Avenue on a daily basis resulted in residents pleading for some form of traffic control. Glenanda North Residents Association (GNRA) together with Ward 56 Clr Michael Crichton asked for intervention from JMPD. Eleven fines were issued and JMPD committed to carrying out another operation on this road in the future.
Crichton said, “I would like to thank JMPD for their time and cooperation. It is a step towards making the residents’ lives better and we need to uphold the law so our communities can feel safe. Thanks also to GNRA for all the interaction I’ve had with them about the need to deal with the traffic and speeding along Amanda Avenue.”
