UPDATE: Park dweller removed

“I’m very grateful he has been removed and will be receiving the treatment he may need. Thank you to all concerned.”

AFTER an article appeared in the Comaro CHRONICLE (Park dweller raises concerns, page 3, February 13) Clr Michael Crichton was asked for comment and said he would contact social development.

“I am pleased to inform you the homeless man who was living in the park in Amanda Avenue has been removed. I approached him with a member of Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) and he seemed mentally unwell. JMPD detained him and will take him to the psychiatric unit at Baragwanath Hospital. I will arrange with City Parks to have his belongings removed,” said Crichton.

The Amanda Avenue resident who drew attention to the park dweller, said, “I’m very grateful he has been removed and will be receiving the treatment he may need. Thank you to all concerned.”
