12 injured in taxi crash on the M1 highway in Robertsham

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that eleven people had sustained minor to moderate injuries while the taxi driver lay trapped in the vehicle in a serious condition.

Twelve people were left injured this morning, February 12, when a taxi crashed into the ARMCO barriers on the M1 highway, northbound, before the Xavier offramp in Robertsham.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, received the emergency call at 09h10 and immediately responded.

On arrival, paramedics found the taxi in the slow and middle lane of the highway. The passengers had already climbed out of the vehicle and were found seated on the barrier.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that eleven people had sustained minor to moderate injuries while the taxi driver lay trapped in the vehicle in a serious condition.

Paramedics utilized various rescue tools to free the trapped driver from the vehicle. Once freed, paramedics treated the patients and provided the driver with pain-relief medication. Once treated, the patients were transported to various hospitals for further treatment.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
