Kayla Wrede from Hartford College shines at Science Olympiad

“To all the teachers who have taught Kayla over the years, thank you for all your dedication and hard work.”

EIGHT Grade Six learners from Hartford College took part in the annual Science Olympiad held at Jeppe High School on October 17.

A total of 15 schools and approximately 200 learners took part in the event. The participants were exposed to the fun side of physical science, technology and biology experiments. In conclusion of the event, each learner had to complete a written test under exam conditions. Kayla Wrede, a learner who has been at Hartford College since her Grade 00 year, achieved second place out of all the girls present (just two points shy of the winner.)

Hartford College places great importance on the teaching of mathematics and the sciences. Kayla’s exceptional achievement has borne testimony to the fact that although the school is small, our learners are well prepared and as the class teacher Mrs McDonald states, “Our learners are quite capable of swimming with the big fish, in the big pond.”

“To all the teachers who have taught Kayla over the years, thank you for all your dedication and hard work. Very well done Kayla, we are delighted with your achievement,” said principal, Mrs N Forbes.
