Rietvlei Zoo Farm manager recovering at home

“Then I should have an indication of how the nerves in my arms are healing. I’m praying for the best.”

BENNY Booysen (junior), who was shot in a robbery at his home on Rietvlei Zoo Farm on October 2, is recovering at home.

Benny and Samantha’s son, Matthew, along with a friend of Matthew’s, were also at the house when the shooting took place. They escaped injury.

Benny underwent four operations and was in Netcare Union Hospital, Alberton, for 10 days before being allowed to return to his home.

“Both of my arms and hands have limited movement but I’m hoping with time and physio they’ll begin to improve,” Benny said.

Benny will have a follow-up examination with his neurosurgeon in six weeks.

“Then I should have an indication of how the nerves in my arms are healing. I’m praying for the best.”

According to Benny, Matthew is doing well, even though he suffered some trauma from the shooting incident.

“We are very proud of him and mostly he’s coping well. He has his off days but on the whole, he’s dealt with what

happened.”
