Four arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition on Swartkoppies

On further investigation it was discovered that the suspects are possibly linked to business robberies and house breaking in the Mondeor policing areas.

On Tuesday 16 October 2018 at about 10:30 Johannesburg Flying Squad and Mondeor tracing unit Police officers arrested four suspects for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The incident happened on Swartkoppies road in Kibler Park. It is alleged that the mondeor police Officers were conducting routine patrols and they spotted a suspicious white Toyota quantum with four occupants in the vehicle. The members called for assistance to pull over the vehicle.

Johannesburg flying squad Police Officers gave back up and one of the occupants pointed the police with a firearm,police officers retaliated and several shots was fired.

All four suspects surrendered. Upon searching the suspects ,two of them were in possession of unlicensed firearm.

On further investigation it was discovered that the suspects are possibly linked to business robberies and house breaking in the Mondeor policing areas.

The unlicensed firearms (38 special Taurus, 9mm Browning) was confiscated for further police investigations.
