Taking his positivity to the top

Growing up Rushil wasn’t always the brightest child in the class, but that never stopped him from giving his all and becoming the top of his grade.

RUSHIL Jina (21), a resident of Mulbarton, hailing from Lenasia South, is one of 11 finalists in the Mr India South Africa pageant.

The pageant, managed by Danny Moodliyar and his highly trained team, has reached new heights every year and is designed for the grooming and upliftment of young adults.

Rushil completed his schooling career at Southview High School and is currently in his third year of law at Varsity College based in Midrand, Johannesburg.

Growing up Rushil wasn’t always the brightest child in the class, but that never stopped him from giving his all and becoming the top of his grade. He had many challenges growing up, one of them being a victim of teasing and bullying.

“Education has always been an important factor in my life. I would often use it as a distraction to get away from the degrading things people would say or call me,” said Rushil. By doing this he took this negativity and used it to become the gentleman he is today.

The Mr India South Africa pageant promotes the contestants to participate in charity drives as well as many activities to help with the development and upliftment of the contestants and provides a platform where young adults can make a difference in the society.

“I would use this remarkable platform and my basic knowledge to not only educate others about our culture but to help inspire young adults to never stop working on themselves and to let them know where they are does not determine where they can be,” added Rushil. A favourite quote he lives by, is one by Mahatma Gandhi, “In a gentle way, you can shake the world.”
