FOR the past two decades Deolinda Molina has been serving at Lusito School, with 13 of those years as principal.
Her love for the learners puts her in the running for being one of the best educators for learners with disabilities. She has grown since she started working at Lusito and received the promotion to principal in 2005.
Deolinda started her teaching career at Lusito in January 1998. The beginning of her career was challenging because of the language barrier with her being from Argentina and English not being her mother tongue.
She told COURIER working with learners who have disabilities is a challenge on its own.
“I completed all my teaching academics in Argentina. I always wanted to work in South Africa so after being accepted here at Lusito I never looked back. I speak Spanish fluently so I had to adjust my English to relate with some of the learners,” said Deolinda.
Since Deolinda’s appointment at Lusito, learners have been spoiled with fun activities and educational workshops.
She wants to be more involved with parents in order to help the school and learners.
Deolinda’s family, who she enjoys spending time with, also resides in South Africa.
