Lucinda takes her vision to Namibia

She would like to update the community on her recent pageant-related endeavours through Namibia.

LUCINDA Pietersen, Mrs Africa 2018 and Mrs Africa Globe 2018, had a wonderful experience in Namibia where she went to complete a few important pageant-related duties over several days.

She shared these wonderful memories of her recent pageant-related endeavours through Namibia with the RECORD.

She was warmly welcomed by the multicultural Nama Choir in the Lutheran Church in Keetmanshoop. Choristers sang and danced beautifully for her outside the church gates. Afterwards, Lucinda delivered a motivational speech to approximately 80 community members.

MOTIVATING: Lucinda gives a speech at the official opening of the Food Bank in Keetmanshoop.

Lucinda later met with the Kharas regional council, South of Namibia, who presented her with a beautiful gift to remember them by. This council made her stay in Namibia even more pleasant by arranging transport and a driver for her.

Later during her trip, Lucinda also visited the municipality chambers in Keetmanshoop, where she got the opportunity to sit on the bench reserved for the president, mayor and deputy mayor.

“It was such a huge privilege for me,” Lucinda enthused.

“I discussed my vision to impact and empower abused women and children, as well as the issue of substance abuse among the youth, with the deputy mayor and local authority councillors. It was a wonderful opportunity!”

Reaching out

One day during her Namibian travels, Lucinda put smiles on the faces of many children by helping with a local soup kitchen project. Apart from feeding these underprivileged children, Lucinda was also able to donate some clothes to each child, which she had been collecting for some time.

A feeding programme was launched two years ago in Windhoek, and another privilege that Lucinda enjoyed during her travels was to attend the official opening of the Food Bank in Keetmanshoop. This clever project is part of the Namibian government’s plan to have zero deaths caused by hunger. Lucinda helped government officials hand out food parcels to community members.

SERENADE: Lucinda was serenaded by the Nama Choir in the Lutheran Church in Keetmanshoop.

On a lighter note, Lucinda visited a small village called Blouwes. She said: “The villagers of Blouwes are so humble. I had so much fun holding a new-born goat and I also visited the Blouwes Primary School where the learners did a lovely dance to welcome me.”

Lucinda would like to thank Lyro Photography, Placecol Skin Care and everyone from Namibia who made her feel so welcome. She is excited to visit Namibia again for an even longer period of time, to tour the whole country and spread even more motivation to school learners.
