Rolling easily to get to pool

Gone is the rocky road and learners in wheelchairs can now move easily along the paved way to the swimming pool.

BALWIN Properties paved the way for the learners of Frances Vorwerg School, who live in wheelchairs.

The learners, who live with Cerebral Palsy, not only get individualised education due to the multi-level teaching and differentiation in each class but also swim in summer to improve their muscles and their gross motor skills.

“Swimming is an excellent exercise for strengthening muscles and for many years learners had to ride on a dirt road to get to the pool.

“Balwin Properties decided to end this rocky road for the learners and during the July school holidays, the road to freedom was paved. Our learners are now able to roll in style to freedom and enjoy a smooth ride to the pool,” said Anandi Spies, spokesperson for the school.
