Bellairs Gardens damaged due to leaking fire hydrant

“We’ve spent hours on the phone to Joburg Water trying to get somewhere but fail to do so,” added Lennox.

A TOWNHOUSE complex in Mulbarton, Bellairs Gardens, has had thousands of litres of water going through the gardens, due to a leaking fire hydrant.

According to the managing agent, Bruce Lennox, it was first reported to Joburg water on July 19 (reference – 800404 3484) and again on July 23 (reference – 800404 9076).

“We have been told a new part is needed and this could take one week, two weeks or even a month to acquire. Meanwhile, the complex gardens are flooded and residents are worried that if the leak isn’t fixed soon their properties may flood,” said Lennox.

“Soon there will be nowhere for the water to soak into and already the gardens are underwater.”

“We’ve spent hours on the phone to Joburg Water trying to get somewhere but fail to do so,” added Lennox.

Joburg Water has been asked for comment but at the time of going to press, nothing had been received.

WATERLOGGED: The lawn is totally under water.
