Comaro Crossing adopts Fun Day Care Centre on Mandela Day

Mandela Day celebrations encourage communities to get more involved in doing good.

TO celebrate Mandela Day Comaro Crossing chose to support Mandela’s vision of education by adopting Fun Day Care Centre, a school in Rosettenville, as part of their community engagement Save Our Schools (SOS) initiative.

Along with 18 other South African Corp shopping centres in South Africa, Comaro Crossing’s long-term objective is to ensure young children receive the best education facilities for a brighter future.

“This month, for Mandela Day, we are supporting the children of Fun Day Care Centre. Spending time with them and donating resources to help with the needs of the school which include painting, fixing of broken doors and windows, donating toys, cooking utensils and bookshelves,” said Comaro Crossing marketing manager Siphelele Sokhela.

She said some of the basic educational items are taken for granted by many yet thousands of children remain without access to the basic classroom necessities.

The adoption of the school was done on Mandela Day but the support of the school would continue always. Members of the community can support the initiative by making donations of any kind, including toys, blankets, crayons, story books, notebooks, or any other stationery related items.

Drop off any donated items at the Comaro Crossing centre management office until July 31 during shopping hours.

PLAY TIME: Comaro Crossing officials enjoy some quality play time with learners at Fun Day Care Centre in Rosettenville during Mandela Day celebrations.
