Donate pet food to AACL for Mandela Day

Help AACL Johannesburg reach its goal of 5 000kg of pet food before Mandela Day.

WITH Mandela Day only a couple of days away, the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) has collected over 2 500kg of pet food meant to save abandoned animals from starvation.

The organisation has a goal to collect 5 000kg of dry pet food and treats by July 18, Mandela Day.

According to AACL marketing manager Carren Nickloes, each month hundreds of animals enter the Johannesburg facility for many reasons, including animals confiscated from abusive homes, strays and those from homes that can’t look after them anymore.

She said the animals consume over 1 300kg of dry pet food monthly, excluding wet food and treats, at a huge cost to the league hence the reason to help the institution collect the targeted 5 000kg.

“We are halfway there thanks to the generosity of the public and businesses assisting towards the challenge,” Carren said.

Residents are urged to assist the cause and ensure AACL Johannesburg reaches its goal of 5 000kg of pet food before Mandela Day.

Donations can be dropped off at Animal Anti-Cruelty League Johannesburg, 59 Alice Street, Regents Park, 2197 or contact 011 435 0672 to arrange collection.
