#HelpThyNeighbour: The gift of helping your neighbour

Mall of the South centre manager Hester Smith said, “It is with the immense generosity from our local community and businesses that we have managed to collect over 12.5 tons of water, which is over 3 000 water bottles.”

MALL of the South, in conjunction with The Water King, the Gift of the Givers and the Johannesburg South community, have been hosting the #HelpThyNeighbour Water Drive 2018 to help alleviate the Cape Town water crisis.

With the recent rainfall in Cape Town, the dam levels have improved. It is, however, too soon to know what supply level is needed in order to safely navigate the summer of 2019.

Mall of the South centre manager Hester Smith said, “It is with the immense generosity from our local community and businesses that we have managed to collect over 12.5 tons of water, which is over 3 000 water bottles. Together we have truly made a difference and we cannot thank you enough.”

THANK YOU: The late Raj Naidoo (The Water King). Photo supplied.

Mall of the South would like to honourably thank the late Raj Naidoo and The Water King family for their continued loyalty and support with the water drive. The Mall of the South team worked closely with Raj, especially with the water drive, and will continue with one of Raj’s passions to unite the community to work together and to help thy neighbour. The #HelpThyNeighbour Water Drive 2018 is in loving memory of Raj.

A special thank you goes to the following for the contribution towards the drive: Ant Production Management; Caxton Alberton Record, Southern Courier and Comaro Chronicle; EFS Fire and Security; Middelburg Preparatory School; Mike Lamb Photography; Mulbarton Primary School; the mall’s amazing shoppers; Pam Golding Properties Joburg South and Alberton; Quatro Cleaning and Security Services; South of Joburg Business and Tourism (Sojo) members; the Mall of the South centre management team; Wallstreet Interactive Digital Advertising Agency; and Zenprop Property Holdings.

The Gift of the Givers transported the donated water to Cape Town on June 24 and it will be distributed by the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) to the places in need, such as schools, orphanages, retirement homes and clinics.

GIVING BACK: Some of the community who gave water for the #HelpThyNeighbour Water Drive 2018. Photo supplied.

The #HelpThyNeighbour Water Drive 2018 will continue and shoppers can still purchase water from The Water King at a discounted rate of R10 per five-litre water bottle. This is only valid for the water drive. For more information contact Nivan Naidoo on 011 432 1984, 011 432 5948 or mail to info@thewaterking.co.za
