Happy 30th Covenant College

“The school was obviously very small and out in the sticks. Today we still enjoy peace and tranquility with open fields around us. This really is a very special school.”

COVENANT College Primary School turned 30 years old in January this year after opening its doors in 1988 with approximately 36 children.

The very first principal was Alan Sutherland, then Margaret Sullivan, Graham Waters and Derek Fourie, before Marlene Swanepoel, who is now the current principal.

The school ran as both a primary and high school and only in 2010 it was registered as a combined school consisting of a primary and a high school. The first principal of Covenant High was Gené Riley and Brian Du Preez is the current principal.

“When the school first opened, it shared with Rhema Church but now we run separately from them,” said Marlene.

When asked how the school has grown and about the changes she’s seen, Marlene said: “The school was obviously very small and out in the sticks. Today we still enjoy peace and tranquility with open fields around us. This really is a very special school.”

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Anne Howes, Marlene Swanepoel and Marion Geach.

Two staff members, Anne Howes and Marion Geach, have been on the staff complement since day one. “We’ve seen lots of change over the years and the school has grown tremendously,” they agreed.

“Here’s to the next 30 years!” added Marlene.
