Abbotts College Johannesburg South competes in an inter-campus public speaking

The college is very proud of all three candidates for setting the standards so high and for sharing their genuine passion for speaking with the world.

ABBOTTS College Johannesburg South competed in an inter-campus public speaking evening on May 16 which proved a great success.

Candidates were required to prepare a four to five-minute speech to present on the evening, followed by an impromptu speech of two minutes after having had only three minutes to prepare.

Grade 10’s Raymond Holwill presented a profound speech on how new technologies create problems in today’s society. He also wowed the crowd by delivering a well-structured and sincere unprepared speech.

Thatohatsi Bambo and Amogelang Bathong won their Grade 11 and 12 categories respectively, delivering speeches involving new inventions and Fomo. The adjudicators were particularly impressed with their ability to connect with the audience and take them on a journey through speech.

The college is very proud of all three candidates for setting the standards so high and for sharing their genuine passion for speaking with the world.

“Be mindful when it comes to your words. A string of some that don’t mean much to you may stick with someone else for a lifetime.” – Rachel Wolchin
