Top 10 accolade for Paul James

“I’d like to thank my clients for all their support over the years and huge thanks to my business partners. You rock.”

WHAT an accolade and a very proud moment for Paul Fox of Paul James Hairdressing, to have made it to the number eight position of the 2018 ranking of the Top 10 Best Hairdressing Salons in Johannesburg.

PASSIONATE: Paul Fox is proud of where he is today in the hairdressing industry.

Paul was born in Glasgow, United Kingdom, and came to Johannesburg in the early ’80s. He attended Bracken High School but left after standard eight, going straight to work for Cathy Millar of Head Games. He moved around from salon to salon, gaining experience and knowledge along the way. In 1994 he joined James Linton as co-partner at Hot Air Hair Salon in Alberton City. In 1995 the salon became Foxy’s Hair Studio and Paul went on his own, taking over Angles, situated on the other side of Alberton City. It was then the salons were rebranded to Paul James Hairdressing.

“Things just took off from there and I opened another salon at The Glen Shopping Centre, with others following,” Paul said. He now has 10 venues: New Redruth, Glenvista, The Glen, Mall of the South, Columbine Square, Bracken City, Carnival City, New Market and Mall at New Redruth, as well as THASA (The Hairdressing Academy of SA) and has his own product line.

While chatting with Paul he said he’s very much looking forward to opening more salons in and around Joburg.

“There’s always room for more businesses and Paul James Hairdressing has been an influential force in the haircare industry for 21 years. Our mission is to keep our clients happy and coming back for more by offering the highest quality hair care services at the most competitive prices. Having said this, I’m only as good as the people I have working with me.”

Paul is involved with St Mary’s Children’s Home, Rosettenville, and sits on the boards of the Employers Association SA, the Bargaining Council and Inter Coiffure.

His son, Connor (21) is studying at Tuks to become a chartered accountant.

“He’s the apple of my eye and we spend precious time together when we can,” he added.

The big Five-O

Paul will be turning 50 in May and is planning a big birthday bash to celebrate his half-century with a surprise planned with three of his mates. So, if you are one of the lucky guests at Paul’s fiftieth, get ready for the earth to move.

“I’d like to thank my clients for all their support over the years and a huge thanks to my business partners. You rock.”

When Paul isn’t working he enjoys running, working out in the gym and singing. Here is to the next 50 years, Paul.
