One shot in church robbery in Turffontein

SAPS opened a business robbery case and are investigating the matter as a large amount of band and electrical equipment was taken.

A VICTIM in his 20s was shot in the neck after an alleged church robbery on Turf Club Street.

Netcare 911 responded to a shooting incident on April 19 at around 11.40pm in Turffontein and on arrival, they, together with other emergency services, found two male victims in their 20s who had been injured.

“One of them had a gunshot wound to the neck and was treated on the scene before being transported to a hospital for further medical treatment. The other male victim sustained minor injuries,” said Tebogo Magoro, the marketing and communications officer at Netcare 911.

Captain Lorraine van Emmerik, who is the communications officer at Booysens SAPS, confirmed that personnel at the station were in fact called out that night to a scene where two people were injured.

“We have opened a business robbery case and are investigating the matter as a large amount of band and electrical equipment was taken,” said van Emmerik.
