UPDATE: 16 prisoners have escaped from the Johannesburg prison

THE Department of Correctional Services has released the names, pictures and offences of the 16 remand detainees who escaped from Johannesburg Medium B this morning, April 9.

The Department of Correctional Services would like to call upon families, friends and members of the public to assist in the apprehension and recapture of these fugitives.

Members of the public are advised to alert the nearest SAPS should they positively identify any of these fugitives or call 086 00 10111.
