WATCH: 94.7 FM visits Stepping Stone Hospice

The 94.7 crew set up under Stepping Stone’s lapa and prepared to tell listeners all about them.

THE afternoon of Monday, March 26, was an amazing day for Alberton, and especially Stepping Stone Hospice, when Greg Aldridge and Lucky du Plessis from 94.7 FM visited the hospice and interviewed people from the establishment live on air.

POSING WITH A FAN: Lucky and Greg take a photo with a very excited fan.

The reason for the visit was due to Stepping Stone’s four consecutive years of participation and fund-raising success in the annual Telkom 94.7 Cycle Challenge.

VOLUNTEERS: Stepping Stone volunteers were really excited to be at this special event. Sitting is Anna van der Schyff. Front: Gladys Knight and Pat Chipps. Back: Dot van Eeden, Paul Barnard, Rina Mulder, Irene Barnard, John Barnard and Charmaine Hefer.

Last year Stepping Stone raised the most money ever in the challenge – 77 riders cycled for their cause – and earned the challenge’s coveted blue jersey. This award goes to the person who raises the most money for their charity and this was earned by Alberton’s Jeff Hudson.

SELFLESS: 94.7FM’s Greg and Lucky took a selfie with Dot van Eeden, a very excited Stepping Stone volunteer.

Hudson, who rides for Stepping Stone, managed to raise over R660 000 last year.

94.7FM thanked Stepping Stone for their dedication by visiting them and having their two famous presenters, Greg and Lucky, give the hospice some exposure by having a live interview on the air.

The radio station also opened up entries for this year’s Cycle Challenge to the public.

The RECORD had a quick interview with the duo and they joked around and talked about their experience of the Alberton community.

You too can get involved

The 94.7 crew set up under Stepping Stone’s lapa and prepared to tell listeners all about Stepping Stone Hospice, their cause and their involvement in the annual Cycle Challenge.

Music played, boerewors rolls were made for visitors and curiosity and anticipation was in the air.

At around 4pm, Greg and Lucky started their show and the interview with Stepping Stone soon followed. Stepping Stone CEO Tersia Burger and Hudson took a happy photo with the radio duo to cherish forever as one of Stepping Stones proudest achievements.

Do you want to help Stepping Stone help others by participating in this year’s Cycle Challenge? A sponsorship of R1 500 is needed per participant to be invested in their brick fund, which was established to secure one of the hospice’s upcoming developments, which includes a wing for adolescent patients.

Your participation will make great changes in many peoples’ lives.
