Hawks swoop on stolen cars

Hawks moved swiftly on an address in Mulbarton, where suspected stolen cars were placed under surveillance.

A MULTIDISCIPLINARY, intelligence-driven operation by the Hawks’ Tactical Operations Management Section (TOMS), Pretoria’s K9 unit, and other security agencies has yielded positive results.

On Tuesday morning, March 20, four suspects were nabbed for possession of stolen and suspected hijacked vehicles in Park Drive, Mulbarton.

The Hawks followed up on information regarding a stolen vehicle in Sinoville last month and further investigation led the team to Ennerdale.

Twelve luxury vehicles were seized from the southern suburbs of Johannesburg, including car engines, car-breaking equipment, a set of car keys, and ammunition. The vehicles had fake registration numbers and some were stripped of parts.

A stolen vehicle, which had false number plates, was spotted inside a yard in the area and its movement was placed under observation.

The Hawks moved swiftly to the identified addresses, where vehicles were placed under surveillance.

The suspects will appear in court soon, facing charges of possession of suspected vehicles and hijacking.
