AACL thanks community

AACL is always looking for new ways to being able to continue to serve the community.

The Johannesburg Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) would like to thank the public and hospital clients for their patience and understanding through the challenging period whilst the hospital was short-staffed during 2017.

“We are now happy to welcome our new full-time vet Dr Kerry French and two part-time veterinary nurses, Sr Eldring and Sr Power who have joined principal vet Dr Faizel Suleyman and his team to manage the ever-increasing workload at the facility,” said Carren Nickloes on behalf of AACL.

AACL is an organisation that gets involved in all aspects of animal welfare. Apart from their welfare hospital for lower income groups, they provide shelter for abandoned animals, promote an efficient adoption programme and prosecute animal cruelty cases. Their outreach programme regularly visits underprivileged areas with a fully equipped mobile clinic and through their education department, they address schools and clubs on the challenges of animal welfare.

AACL is always looking for new ways to being able to continue to serve the community and beyond. To assist the community, they will be reinstating their Friday morning consulting from the first week in April.

“We urge clients to arrive before consulting hours to be seen rather than phoning first,” said Suleyman.

“Due to emergencies, the workload can change dramatically in an hour.”

Hospital consultation hours from Mondays to Thursdays are 9am to 11am and 1pm to 2pm, Fridays (from April) from 9am to 11am and Saturday from 8.30am to 11am.

Hundreds of animals are treated each week during consulting hours. Payment is made according to income but with many people financially stressed, the income generated from fund-raising by individuals and corporates subsidises such cases.
