Mondeor house robber gets 15 years

The Mondeor SAPS arrested 51 suspects in the space of a week.

ON February 27, Nkululeko Nyamane (24) was found guilty by the Johannesburg High Court for a house robbery that occurred in Mondeor. Through the hard work of the investigating officer the suspect was traced to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital with bullet wounds and was linked to the crime.

“He was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment and declared unfit to possess a firearm,” said Captain Nokulunga Dube, communications officer for the Mondeor SAPS. “Detective branch commander Lieutenant Colonel Mathibela welcomed the conviction and would like to commend the investigating officers for their hard work, determination and effort throughout the investigation.”

Meanwhile, the Mondeor SAPS arrested 51 suspects in the space of a week. Nine were arrested for driving under the influence, eight for shoplifting, eight for drinking in public and dealing in liquor, seven for possession of dagga, four for assault, four for malicious damage to property, four for possession of house-breaking implements, two for fraud, one for defeating the ends of justice, one for theft out of a motor vehicle, one for theft under false pretenses, and one for contempt of court.
