Do you think our school transport is safe?

We asked locals if they felt public or private school transport systems are safe. Here are some responses.

FRANK MBATA: “Yes, because if it wasn’t safe, parents wouldn’t send their kids with them. Some drivers aren’t safe because I see children without seat belts and they stick their heads out of the windows.”
LUCKY NKOSI: “No, the transport systems are bad and dangerous. Children have to go to school safely but there are too many accidents because some drivers are not safe.”
LEELINE MARSHALL: “Yes, because drivers are held responsible if anything happens to the children and I don’t have a problem with the transport. It depends on the driver’s qualifications and accountability.”
KGOMOTSO MAMASELA: “I think that it is getting better because drivers pick up and drop off children on time and at their homes, unlike public transport that rushes and is dangerous. You know your child is safe and can always contact the driver.”
