WATCH: Sassa grant assistance for all

“Thanks also to the representatives from Sassa who come here and help. It’s fantastic they are able to come here and assist the seniors.”

MICHELLE Pelser and her team of Cindy Morujao, Joy Boswell and Anka Daly were at Golden Falls Spur Columbine Square on Tuesday, February 6, assisting residents with their Sassa grant applications.

“A huge thumbs-up to Golden Falls Spur for always hosting us in their restaurant, and special thanks to managers Sam Mto and Nellie Sigenu for going the extra mile and for being so supportive,” said Michelle.

HELPING: Michelle Pelser explains to seniors what they have to do to get their Sassa pensions.

“Thanks also to the representatives from Sassa who come here and help. It’s fantastic they are able to come here and assist the seniors.”

Residents began queuing outside the Spur from 7am in the hope they would be one of those seen during the morning. Joy Boswell arrived at 7.20am and already there were 14 in the queue.

To apply for a Sassa pension you first need: a copy of your ID; proof of residence; three months’ stamped bank statements; proof of investments; proof of property; medical contributions; your spouse’s ID and bank details; plus your marriage certificate.

WAITING PATIENTLY: Seniors wait their turn to see the Sassa officials.

“We are assisting residents now for when the new system kicks in, and Sassa grants will then be paid directly into their bank accounts. I’d like to stress the old cards have not yet expired and can still be used,” said Michelle.

Seniors will be assisted with their Sassa grants again on Tuesday, March 6 at Golden Falls Spur. “Anyone who arrives after 9am we unfortunately won’t be able to assist,” stressed Michelle.
