UPDATE: Taxi rolls leaving sixteen injured

Fortunately, no fatalities were found on the scene.

Sixteen people were left injured this morning, February 6, when a taxi rolled on the R59 near the Swartkoppies Road in Alberton.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find the taxi sitting in the centre median. The occupants were found lying outside the taxi.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that two had sustained critical injuries while fourteen others had sustained minor to moderate injuries. Fortunately, no fatalities were found on the scene.

Paramedics treated the patients and provided the two critically injured with advanced life support interventions.

Once treated, the two critically injured patients were transported to Baragwanath Hospital while the remaining patients were transported to various provincial hospitals.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
