RayMarcie Academy hosts awards day

The academy was established in 2005, and incorporated training in venue draping, table setting, flower arranging and bridal bouquets in 2011.

RAYMARCIE Academy, a skills training enterprise in Linmeyer which offers a comprehensive syllabus in curtain making and window décor treatments, recently hosted an awards day to acknowledge the great work produced throughout 2017.

The academy was established in 2005, and incorporated training in venue draping, table setting, flower arranging and bridal bouquets in 2011. The owner and principal, Marcelle Germanus, runs the academy from RayMarcie designs in Linmeyer.

“Attendance and completion of my courses empowers one to be self-employed, to operate a small or large business, thereby giving employment to others,” said Marcelle.

The course also gives people the opportunity to supplement their income with a part-time service.

The academy’s awards were first held in 2013 and are now an annual event.

“A table setting competition is included in the award ceremony,” said Marcelle. “There is presentation of prizes in certain categories, for which attendees’ performance is monitored during their attendance of the courses throughout the year.”

The 2017 graduation ceremony, held in December, was once again a huge success. Students from around the country were in attendance and a scrumptious lunch was served. Goodie bags were given out to all and the afternoon was filled with fun, games and prizes.

At the awards the academy also launched its DVD tutorials.

“Creating these DVD tutorials was a constant dream of mine. After many years of formulating concepts, patterns and methods, I am pleased to say the tutorials are now available for curtain making, pelmet making, roman blinds making, swag and tails making, venue draping, table setting, floral arrangements and basic bridal flowers,” said Marcelle.

RayMarcie Academy offers demonstration, practical and theory courses in all of the above variables. Visit their website www.raymarciedesigns.co.za for all the exciting news about RayMarcie Academy, or contact Marcelle on 083 252 1684.
