House hijacking alleged three to appear again on February 1

The three men are facing charges of fraud.

THE case against three men who are linked to a house hijacking has been postponed to February 1.

Jonathan Constable, Bongani Kathide and Kingsley Eze first appeared at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on January 10 and appeared again on January 24, only for their case to be postponed to February 1.

The state wished to peruse through the submitted new evidence and asked for more time.

The three men are facing charges of fraud relating to two properties in Rosettenville, south of Johannesburg.

Bail for Kathide and Constable was denied on January 16. Eze is yet to find out if he will be granted bail as he is still expected to make representations to the National Prosecuting Authority as to why he should not be prosecuted. The three are accused of plotting with tenants not to pay rent to property owners under the disguise of an organisation known as the National Immigrants Council of South Africa.

Their legal representative Mr Mabunda is adamant that there is no case against his clients.

City mayor Herman Mashaba said he hoped justice would prevail and that those corrupt would know the full might of the law.
