Accident claims one on R59

The driver lost control of his car.

A YOUNG man, believed to be 25, died after an accident on the R59 north approximately 1km before Klipriver Road on January 14 at about 9.30pm.

According to emergency services, the driver lost control of his vehicle and rolled. He was thrown out of the vehicle and landed on the middle island.

There were three occupants in the vehicle. The two passengers were transported to a nearby hospital and are both in a stable condition, but unfortunately, the driver died on scene.

“Attempts were made to resuscitate him, but unfortunately, due to the severity of his injuries he died on the scene,” said paramedic, Chantal Peel from National Paramedical Services.

Legal authorities were on scene and the accident will be investigated.
