Worthy recipient for cake

“It’s too beautiful to eat. I’m going to remove some of the decorative figures and keep these, then we’ll cut the cake!”

EVERYONE loves a delicious and beautifully iced cake, but this cake definitely took the biscuit! A worthier cause could not have been found than The Lighthouse Stimulation Centre in Linmeyer, who was thrilled to receive the Christmas cake last week.

Dot van Eeden from Alberton Lions Club brought the cake along, which had been baked and decorated by Eleanor Casey from Wits South branch of the South African Decorators Guild and raffled at The Glen Shopping Centre over the festive season, to raise funds for the lions club.

EXQUISITE: The Christmas cake which was donated to The Lighthouse.

Teresa Magalhaes who supports The Lighthouse through the Carlos Magalhaes Feeding Scheme sold the winning ticket to Melanie Wagner, who then donated the cake to The Lighthouse.

Lucilia Jacinto, the principal of The Lighthouse, was delighted when Dot arrived with the beautiful cake and said: “It’s too beautiful to eat. I’m going to remove some of the decorative figures and keep these, then we’ll cut the cake!”

Some of the children who were there that morning were in awe of the cake and couldn’t resist a little touch!
