Women robbed in Mall of the South parking lot

The South African Police Service is investigating the incident.

A WOMAN with her two-year-old daughter, and her mother were held up in Mall of the South shopping centre undercover parking lot, near to Entrance six, on Saturday, January 6 at about 6.13pm.

According to Mondeor SAPS and footage which was checked two days after the robbery, the women’s vehicle was followed from a secured estate. The driver of the vehicle remained in his car, chatting on a cellphone, while the women and two-year-old went into the shopping mall.

When they came back to their vehicle and began to place their parcels into their car and secure the child in her car seat, two men, driving a dark grey golf GTI (new shape with sunroof) drove up behind them, threatening them with firearms and robbing them of a ring, handbags and cellphones.

According to Hester Smith, Mall of the South Centre Manager, “No shots were fired and no injuries were sustained. The suspects fled the scene. The South African Police Service is investigating the incident.”

The women’s cellphones were apparently dumped on Kliprivier Drive, near Columbine Avenue, Suideroord and returned to the women later that same evening.
